Why Rest Is Not Lazy (Even the Lord Rested)
Reclaiming rest as a sacred act of obedience and wellness
In our fast-paced world, rest is often viewed as indulgent—or worse, lazy. But what if rest is actually a powerful, faith-filled practice that brings us closer to God and supports our mental health?
At Radiant Grace Mental Health Coaching, we believe rest is not only necessary—it's holy. If you're a woman, mother, teen, or caregiver constantly pouring into others, this message is for you: Rest is not a weakness. Rest is biblical.
🕊️ Even the Lord Rested
In Genesis 2:2, we read:
“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.”
Let that sink in. The all-powerful Creator of the universe chose to rest—not because He was tired, but to model a rhythm of work and restoration for us to follow.
💡 Rest Isn’t Laziness—It’s Obedience
So why do we resist rest? Culture tells us we need to be busy to be valuable. But Scripture tells us that our worth is not tied to productivity—it's rooted in being a beloved child of God.
Choosing to rest can be a radical act of trust and obedience. It says:
"I trust God to sustain me even when I'm not working."
"I honor my mind and body as temples of the Holy Spirit."
"I choose wellness so I can serve from a place of strength, not survival."
🧠 The Mental Health Benefits of Rest
Rest is more than sleep—it's a state of being. And it has real benefits for your emotional, spiritual, and mental health:
✅ Reduces anxiety and overwhelm
✅ Improves mood and mental clarity
✅ Lowers cortisol levels and burnout risk
✅ Restores emotional balance
✅ Creates space for reflection and prayer
At Radiant Grace, we help clients learn how to incorporate restorative rhythms into their daily lives—without guilt.
💬 How to Embrace Faith-Based Rest
Here are a few gentle ways to invite rest into your week:
✨ Schedule quiet time with God each morning or evening
🌿 Take a Sabbath rest—even if it's just a few hours unplugged
📖 Reflect with Scripture on peace, rest, and renewal (try Psalm 23 or Matthew 11:28-30)
🙏 Practice deep breathing or prayer meditation
💌 Journal your thoughts to slow the mental swirl
Remember: You were not created to hustle endlessly. You were created to thrive.
📣 You Are Worth Rest
Friend, if you're feeling overwhelmed, depleted, or spiritually dry—you're not alone. You don’t have to earn rest. You are worthy of rest simply because you exist.
And if you’re struggling to find that balance, mental health coaching can help. At Radiant Grace, we offer faith-based coaching sessions to help you reconnect with your God-given peace and purpose.

5 Faith-Based Ways To Cope With Anxiety
5 Faith-Based Ways To Cope with Anxiety
5 Faith-Based Ways to Cope with Anxiety
Anxiety can feel like a storm — swirling thoughts, tight shoulders, and a restless heart that won’t quiet down. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed and unsure how to move forward, you’re not alone. As believers, we’re called to trust God — but that doesn’t mean we won’t face emotional struggles. The good news? Faith and mental health can work hand in hand.
Here are 5 faith-based ways to cope with anxiety that can help bring peace to your heart and mind:
1. Turn to Scripture for Truth and Comfort
God’s Word is filled with promises that speak directly to anxious hearts. Verses like:
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” — Psalm 56:3
Meditating on scripture reminds us that we are not alone and that God’s peace is available — even in the midst of chaos. Try writing verses on notecards and keeping them near your bed, on your mirror, or in your purse for encouragement throughout the day.
2. Practice Faith-Based Mindfulness or Breath Prayer
Mindfulness isn’t just a wellness trend — when grounded in faith, it becomes a powerful tool for connection and calm. Where some call it meditation, some say mindfulness, and typically, as Christians, we just say quiet time with God. But even if your mind isn’t feeling quiet, you can still find relief from anxiety in breath prayers. Here is a simple example of breath prayer:
Inhale slowly and say in your mind, “When I am afraid…” (or anxious, or stressed…)
Exhale and think, “…I will trust in You, Jesus.”
Repeating short, scripture-based phrases while breathing deeply helps slow your racing thoughts and reconnects you to the fact that God is always present, with you.
3. Surrender Through Prayer — Even When It’s Messy
You don’t need polished words. God wants your honest heart. When anxiety rises, take a moment to pause and pray:
“Lord, I feel overwhelmed. I don’t know what to do. Please calm my spirit and remind me that You are in control and that you have a plan for my life that is higher than any I could create myself. You will fight for me; I need only to be still.”
Daily surrender helps lift the burden off your shoulders and invites God into the center of your emotional wellbeing.
4. Seek Godly Community and Support
Anxiety often makes us want to isolate — but healing happens in connection. Talk to a trusted friend, church leader, or consider Christian mental health coaching. Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is to ask for help.
You weren’t meant to walk this alone. Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us that “Two are better than one.”
I’m also here to tell you that God intends us to share our burdens so that we are reminded that, whatever we are going through, others have walked this path before and can share godly insight and encouragement with us. That is part of what I do at Radiant Grace.
5. Take Care of Your Body as a Temple
Your spiritual health and physical health are deeply connected. Gentle movement, rest, nourishing food, and time in nature can all help your nervous system regulate. Think of these habits not as indulgences, but as ways to honor the temple God gave you.
Go for a walk while listening to worship music. Stretch and thank God for your body. Create routines that feel grounding, not rushed.
💬 Final Thoughts:
Anxiety may feel loud, but God’s peace is capable of quieting the biggest storms. You are not broken. You are not failing. You’re human — and your healing matters.
If you're longing for deeper peace and personalized support, I’m here to help you walk that journey. You don’t have to figure it out alone. If that sounds good to you - schedule your coaching session today.
🕊️ Let’s walk together toward peace, purpose, and renewed faith.
🌼 Give Her the Gift of Life Coaching This Mother’s Day
This Mother’s Day, Give her the gift of more of herself.
💖 This Year, Give Mom Something Deeper
Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate everything moms do— and let’s be honest. Candles are lovely, and brunch is sweet — but what if this year, instead of giving her more things, you gave her more of herself?
Motherhood is sacred. It’s powerful. And it’s exhausting. Most moms carry so much—nurturing others, managing households, holding space, juggling careers, healing generations, and quietly pushing their own needs to the bottom of the list. Life coaching and mental health coaching are thoughtful, lasting gifts that help moms reconnect with themselves—something every mom deserves.
🌿 Why Life Coaching Is the Ultimate Mother’s Day Gift
Coaching is more than a conversation—it’s a space just for her. A space to be heard without judgment. To untangle the mental clutter. To rediscover her voice, her dreams, her strength.
It’s not necessarily about fixing—it’s about supporting.
It’s not about adding more to her plate—it’s about clearing space on it.
It’s not just a friendly chat session; there are tools in place to really help regain a place of peace and joy, while sorting through the chaos that is part of the beauty of motherhood.
Life Coaching creates space for Moms to:
Navigate feeling overwhelmed, stressed and burnout
Rediscover their identity outside of motherhood
Create boundaries that build feelings of empowerment, not guilt
Process emotions and life transitions with clarity and confidence
Make confident decisions rooted in peace, not pressure
Receive real tools for emotional resilience
And most importantly, it’s a reminder that she matters, too.
Instead of a short-lived gift, coaching offers long-term personal growth and emotional support.
🎁 Coaching Makes a Meaningful, Personalized Gift
Whether she’s a new mom, a seasoned mama, or somewhere in between— everyone benefits from a space where they can reflect, be heard, and grow.
At Radiant Grace Coaching, we offer personalized mental health and life coaching that meets her where she is—with compassion, insight, and empowerment.
You can choose a one-time gift session or a coaching package—each one tailored to her needs and goals.
💌 Give the Gift of Support This Mother’s Day
Show the mom in your life how much she matters.
Support her healing, clarity, and joy—with a coaching session made just for her.
She gives so much—this time, let her receive.
